One Step At A Time

Climbing stairs taking dual steps at once might be faster and fulfilling. Climbing the same stairs taking one step at a time will be more relaxing and convenient. As we pursue our beautiful life ambitions, many opportunities will be presented to us, many steps will seem climbable, many strangers will be met. However, it’s all a matter of choice — taking just what we need and focusing on the end goal.

Again, life should not be a competition but rather a mission of becoming better each day. When we live each day as it comes, we grow by reflecting on the experiences. The ambition might be taking too long to achieve but taking the time to gather the needed skills and training will eventually be worthwhile. It is always better to take it one step at a time. Do not be in haste to reap what you sow. Give it time to grow. Give it time to germinate. That is the only time you enjoy every benefit therein. We do not have to be negatively frustrated or pushed by someone else’s achievements. We are all running a different race. It might be funny that taking the same opportunities does not guarantee the same success. The same recipe does not produce the same sauce. Taking the time to grow and implement all that’s needed is very paramount. The final outcome will reflect why it took so long.

Another thing to remember while pursuing life goals is the long-term. You do not want to keep going back to plant the same seed biannually because you did not give it the initial required time. Do not be in haste to harvest. Do not live prematurely. Although, the plan might change, eventually. But remember why you started at first. Take the time to celebrate yourself for every achievement you make along the journey. The long-term success is coming and you will be amazed at how your patience alongside your hard work pays off. Also, do not forget to celebrate with others and be genuinely happy for them when their harvest time comes. Clap and stand up for others when it is their time to shine. It will not obstruct your longing success nor will it stop theirs. Always remember you are not in competition with anyone except with your own self. If you do not take it slowly and consider your health, when your harvest time eventually comes, you do not want someone else to reap what you’ve sown.

Take Care of Yourself

A sister usually tells me this — to take care of myself. She does add that as much as I care about other people, I should look out for myself as well. Not until recently that I realized how important it is to take care of oneself. Many times, we seem to be carried away by the long-term goals envisioned. We keep working as a train inside the dark tunnel that doesn’t care what might happen. We as well give too much attention to people’s needs to the detriment of ours. What I have learned is “learning to say No whenever appropriate”. When we do this, it is not as though we are being cruel or self-centered, we are only trying to take care of ourselves and thinking long-term. It does not make sense when a fisherman gives out fish in a day and wasn’t able to get one to himself, only because he gave all the day-gathered fishes out the same day. We all need to take care of ourselves and think long-term. It is okay for other people to see your “No” otherwise. All that matters is your intentionality and genuineness. You do not want to hurt yourself to satisfy someone else. #focus
